WUXI RETAIL CENTER

WUXI, CHINA

WuXi was designed for Bailian, China’s largest and most successful open-air retail developer. The client’s wish was to recreate the feel of Italy, specifically Rome, Venice and Tuscany, yet not copying directly landmarks people easily recognize. The one and two-story project is over 750,000 sf yet feels manageable to navigate due to a series of pedestrian streets, plazas, alleyways and trolly. Landscape, water features, building color and finishes distinct one district from another. 

The development won a Pioneer Award from The Singapore Design Institute.
