MACK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

WOODINVILLE, WA

Mack is built on a heavily wooded and rural site. The separation of building forms and uses was employed to allow for campus expansion with minimal disruption to teaching. More importantly this created a wonderful composition of outdoor spaces for the students when walking from class to the library, or to the gymnasium and covered play area. The heart of the campus is the library. Large windows maximize natural daylight and views into the story time “tepee”, which is defined by exposed Douglas Fir columns hand-peeled by students, staff and parents. 

Mack was bestowed an Honorable Mention Award by The Seattle AIA.
